Why are we participating?
Skateboarding is a sport/culture that is more inclusive than many other sports. Skaters do not easily put labels on people based on their background, gender, social status, ... This makes for a very inclusive community, where everyone is welcome. Skaters unite around their love for skating. This makes all skaters feel supported and accepted.
Many skaters are involved in the community from a young age, this can lead to long friendships and even a sense of family. Because skateboarding revolves around mutual respect, shared passion and learning, which results in a very tight and loving community.
The collection centers around overcoming isolation, which we want to show by highlighting a sense of community. Throughout the collection, you'll notice recurring "fire figures," which symbolizes the skaters in our community. Each figure is unique, yet all share a burning passion for the love of skateboarding.
